Montessori trained teachers provide developmentally appropriate instruction for a small, intimate group of children age 18-36 months. The Young Children's Community provides an opportunity for growth to occur in a safe environment designed for the young child's particular needs. Children are encouraged to encounter the joy of the real and natural world, over commercial fantasy worlds. The prepared environment offers a special atmosphere of beauty, order, understanding, respect, and support. The parent education component helps to introduce parents to the many elements of Christian Montessori, early child development and parenting skills.
Practical Life: This important emphasis on early childhood development provides children the opportunity to develop skills to care for themselves and their environment. Repeated success helps the child build independence and self-esteem through these very practical activities. Children prepare and serve snacks, set and clear tables, sweep, care for plants and animals, wash dishes and clothes, polish, arrange flowers, and more.
Language Development: The young child's natural affinity for language development is fostered through music, bible and other stories, and vocabulary enrichment activities.
Movement: The developmental needs of the young child are best met when the child is provided opportunities and defined spaces to challenge coordination of movement. Movement activities include stairs, push carts, eye-hand coordination activities and other opportunities to develop coordination, equilibrium and strength.
Parent Education: Whether a first time parent in need of information about children's development, or an experienced parent looking for fellowship and support, this important opportunity to learn along with other parents and experts, is an integral element of our program.
