Anilu Seromik, Lower Elementary Spanish Teacher
Senora Anilu is an experienced Spanish teacher and Spanish program coordinator
for a number of private schools in the Ann Arbor area. A native of
Mexico, Anilu is fluent in written and oral English and Spanish. She has
lived in the United States since 1981 with her husband and four children, and
has served as a Spanish translator, reading lab assistant and Spanish teacher
with the Language Odyssey Program for Ann Arbor Public Schools. Anilu has
a Bachelor of Arts in Family Life and Child Development from Eastern Michigan
University. She brings a strong understanding of cultural practices in
the US and throughout Latin America, great experience and organizational skills,
and a steadfast and joyous Christian spirit to her work with our students.
Karla Chavez, Upper Elementary Teacher, UEL and Middle School Spanish
Karla Chavez is a wonderfully experienced and diverse Montessorian.
Karla holds Montessori credentials in each of the Children’s House, Elementary
and Middle School levels and has taught at all levels.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Instituto Pedagogico
Chihuahense in Mexico and started her Montessori career as an Elementary
Directress in Chihuahua, Mexico. She has worked for more than five years
as an Elementary level Montessori teacher as well as at a Montessori school
for deaf children and in a Spanish immersion Montessori.
She recently completed additional course work in special education at
Eastern Michigan University. Karla is an amazing addition to the
international emphasis of the CMSAA community.
Cho-Kyoung Kim, Children & Worship Teacher
Cho-Kyoung Kim is a life long learner who received her Montessori
certification at Adrian Dominican Montessori Teacher Education Institute in
2003. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics from
the Sacred Heart Catholic University in Seoul, Korea. Cho-Kyoung has
many years teaching experience with stints which range from teaching
kindergarten to middle school math and science. She also has
administrative experience and, for three years, was the assistant director
of the Korean Christian Academy in Seoul, Korea. Cho-Kyoung delights in
sharing God’s love with young children and we are delighted that she has
joined the CMSAA community to teach and lead the school-wide Children &
Worship program.
Claire Pruss, Bambino Head Teacher
Claire’s history with the CMSAA community goes back many years. Claire
was a CMSAA parent for several years and also taught with Russelle Low in our
Children’s House 1 classroom. She received her Montessori preprimary
certification from Adrian Dominican Montessori Teacher Education Institute
in 2001 and has taught at a variety of Montessori schools. Claire also
joined several CMSAA families on a mission trip to the Amazon River in Peru
in 2006 where she led the children’s ministry focus of the mission
trip. What a blessing! Welcome Claire.
Alexandra Hejazi, Children’s House 2 Intern, Children’s
House Spanish Teacher & Bambino Teacher
Alexandra is currently studying to receive her Early Childhood Montessori
certification at the Adrian Dominican Montessori Teacher Education
Institute. A native of Columbia, Alexandra earned her Bachelor in
Business Administration at the Universidad ICESI and then came to the U.S.
in 1999 and attended the Access International Language Institute.
She is currently working on a second Bachelor’s degree in Economics at
Eastern Michigan University. Welcome Alexandra!
Becky Logie, Music Coordinator
Becky Logie was made for music! Over the past two decades, Becky has
taught music, directed children’s choirs, school music programs, and
youth groups in California, Oregon, Washington and Michigan. In 1992,
she took additional training in Kindermusik, Musikgarten and Orff, and opened
her own studio to private piano students and small groups, offering a broad
musical base to home-schooled children in the area. Becky continues in
her studio work but has joined the CMSAA family to bring the joy of music and
performance to our children. Additionally, Becky also directs the after
school hand bell program for Upper Elementary and Middle School students.
It is a pleasure for us all to see the children’s enthusiasm and growth
— in song and in ensemble — under the tutelage of Miss Becky!
Elizabeth Roeda, The Children’s Art Studio
Director
Elizabeth Roeda is the Director of the Children’s Art Studio at
CMSAA. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education from Kent
State University and is currently completing her Master of Arts thesis in
Art Education. Elizabeth has taught art to students aged five through 18
and developed a district-wide art curriculum for middle school students for
the Hudsonville Public School System, using a thematic approach and integrating
art production, art history, art criticism and aesthetics. She will be
working closely with our elementary and middle school teachers to integrate art
experiences with the Montessori curriculum, and to bring our students to a
greater appreciation for and experience of a multitude of art forms.
Amanda Wilhelm, Intervention Specialist and Physical Development Coordinator
Amanda brings a wealth of diverse talents and expertise to CMSAA. She
is a certified Montessorian and holds a Masters of Education from Xavier
University and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from Miami
University. She has worked in both public and private Montessori
Schools and has served as both a classroom teacher and as an intervention
specialist for students with special needs. Amanda has Early Childhood
(pre-K — 3) teaching licenses in both Ohio and Michigan with additional
licenses for Reading and Special Education. Her love for physical
activity has been evident in her activities as a runner, a swimmer, a Pilates
instructor and a NCAA cheerleader. Welcome Amanda.
