Hema Paul, Lower Elementary Head Teacher
Hema holds a variety of degrees from a variety of institutions! She holds
a Bachelor’s of Science from Madras University and a Bachelor’s of
Education from Annamalai University. She has also earned a Masters Degree
in Preprimary Education and her Early Childhood Montessori Certification from
the London Montessori Center. She earned her Elementary Certification from
the Montessori Teacher Training Center in Rochester Hills. Hema has a
passion for children and has taught for 20 years! She has taught in
India, Australia, and the United States — most recently she directed and
taught at Shepherd Montessori School in Milan. In her spare time she has
raised two girls to adulthood! Hema, with her gentle manner and
tremendous experience is a true gift to the children and families of CMSAA.
Carmen Williams, Lower Elementary
Teacher
Carmen is a graduate of the University of Detroit, with a BA in Communication
Studies. She completed her Montessori training for both Lower Elementary
(ages 6 to 9) and Upper Elementary (ages 9 to 12) Certification at the
Columbus Montessori Teacher Training Center (COMET). Her prior
experience includes teaching at both the Lower and Upper Elementary levels
at Giving Tree Montessori School, and serving as the Assistant Directress
there. In addition, Carmen served as a catechist for elementary
children at her church.
Alison Makarewich, Lower Elementary Teacher and Assistant Director of Programming
Alison brings a wealth of experience in Montessori and children’s programs
to the CMSAA community. She joined CMSAA in 2001 after completing her
degree in Childhood Development at Ferris State University and her Montessori
preprimary certification from the Adrian Dominican Montessori Teacher
Education Institute. Prior to joining CMSAA,
Alison worked as a day camp director and Head Teacher for the Lenawee County
YMCA. Alison lends her amazing organizational skills to the entire CMSAA
staff and also serves as Assistant Director of Programming.
