Student-made masks inspired by African Masks

Elementary students attend art class once a week. The art program emphasizes the development of foundation skills necessary for drawing and painting and experience with a variety of media. Lessons often correspond with cultural studies taking place in the classroom.

When possible, skill lessons will be offered to small groups of students in addition to the group meeting once a week.  Students have the opportunity to choose art activities as part of their work throughout the week.

Art appreciation and artist studies fill out the program, helping students develop an enjoyment of and confidence in the visual arts.
