Christian Montessori School of Ann Arbor is pleased to announce plans for our 2009 Summer Camp program. This year, in addition to our usual Children’s House summer camp program, we are pleased to offer an Elementary Camp and an Adolescent Community Service Program. Below are the details for each program — we encourage you to share this information with anyone you think might be interested.
We will be offering five 2-week sessions. Each session will have an overarching theme and will include daily worship activities, outdoor physical activity, gardening, and arts and craft sensorial work. Campers will be taken to the Vet’s Park pool two afternoons a week. We are also busy planning field trips, outings, and special classroom visitors and expect to have at least one field trip per session. Further information about potential field trips and special activities will be available prior to the start of Camp.
Children’s House camp staffing will include, Sarah Chandler and Janet Billoto. The Elementary staffing will include Karla Chavez and Adrian Lopez.
We are pleased to announce that this summer we will be hosting adolescent community service teams to work on developing the nature preserves behind the school. This program is open to individuals 12 to 20 years old. Participants will team with experienced Christian youth workers and landscapers to participate in developmentally appropriate work related to the overall land development project. In addition, participants will gain experience in gardening and other growing projects. We hope that the fruits of these efforts will allow our community to enjoy pond access and wilderness paths by summer’s end. Please note that participation in these community service projects is free (apart from a small administration fee). We will hold six 1-week sessions (see below for dates).
